These are the rules as of December 31st, 2007. In lieu of unpredictable circumstances, they MAY change in the future. Please be sure to read them again if we announce any alterations.

COMMUNITY RULES:
I. Respect
The number one issue that we feel is important here is respect. This group wasnt established for a single Hinata!Pairing, but for all of them. Each of us has our preferences, but BASHING and FLAMING of other pairings/characters is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. This community is about love, not hate, and wed like the atmosphere to reflect such.
However, if you would like to express your opinions about why you like a particular pairing, feel free to share. Just try to refrain from making comments about how/why your pairing is better than other pairings.II. Joining
Joining is simple; leave a comment on the group and/or add us to your friends list and a member of the staff will take care of your request. Once we get set up properly, a list of all members will be added to our journal. If you do not see your name on this list, please let us know and we'll be happy to correct the error immediately.
As a member, you are NOT required to participate in the group contests/activities. If you would prefer to remain an inactive observer/supporter, thats your prerogative. So long as you abide by the group and site codes of conduct, youre welcome to stay and enjoy the submissions with the rest of us.III. Affiliation
Similar to the joining procedure, if you would like to affiliate your group with ours please leave us a comment. Well get back to you as soon as possible and add you to our list.IV. Submission
1 ) To submit an entry to one of our contests, please upload your work of art or fiction to your private DA account and, in a comment, send us a link to it. One of the staff members will upload a copy of your fanart/fiction to the DateMe gallery so that the entire group might enjoy it. Well be sure to include information that leads viewers to the original post and credits the artist/author properly.
2 ) Your submission does NOT have to be romantic in content, but you MUST include both characters. Platonic relationships (even humorous ones) are acceptable as long as you follow the aforementioned stipulation.
3 ) Please be mindful of the season of the month and reflect such in your setting. Hinata sitting on a beach with Neji in the middle of January is NOT acceptable (unless, of course, they're turning blue).
NOTE: If you happen to live in the southern hemisphere and laying on a beach in January is quite natural for you, you are exempt from this rule. We do ask that you at least consider turning in artwork following the seasons from the northern hemisphere, though, as it would seem pretty strange to have a NejiHina beach scene next to GaaHina skiing down a mountainside in the calendar
There's also possibility of making your entries seasonally non-specific, too, so keep that in mind.
4 ) We would PREFER fanart thats CG, but dont fret if youre not familiar with photoshop; we accept entries of all mediums, traditional and non.
5 ) Naturally, avatars, comic strips, photography, film, etc are NOT accepted as contest entries (feel free to submit them as non-contest submissions, though) since we wouldnt be able to include them in the calendar, which basically defeats the entire purpose of such an endeavor. Remember: still pictures only, either in CG or traditional mediums.
6 ) Please feel free to enter multiple submissions. There is, technically speaking, no limit to how many entries you can submit, but please don't overwhelm the competition with an outrageous amount of fanart and/or fanfiction. We'd like everyone to have an equal chance of winning ^^
7 ) Though the fanfiction contests are meant to inspire OneShot stories, multiple-chapter fics are also accepted. However, please be sure that the fanfiction is FINISHED by the deadline date or the group will be forced to judge an unfinished product as-is (you wouldnt want that, now would you?) Additionally, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to keep the entry between one (1) and five (5) chapters in length, but we understand if this is impossible.
If you DO submit a multi-chapter entry, PLEASE be sure to submit the chapters one at a time as you finish them so that people might have a chance to read them before judging commences. Otherwise it would be difficult for everyone to finish reading your story alongside the others within the judging period.
8 ) Your entry must be a NEW piece of fanart/fiction, not something that was previously uploaded on your personal account. We're trying to inspire the creation of MORE Hinata!Pairing art/fiction, not celebrate what's already out there (as wonderful as it is). If we discover that your fanart/fiction is an older piece, we will be forced to disqualify it from the competition.
9 ) Be sure to read the GENERAL GUIDELINES section as well. They will give you (slightly) more specific instructions on the contests themselves and what is/isnt acceptable in submissions. Youll be able to find these in every journal entry that announces a contest.V. JudgingGeneral:
1 ) You have an ENTIRE month to submit your entries, whether they be fanart or fanfiction. You may begin submitting on midnight of the first of the month and must be sure to get us your entry by the last day of the month. We understand that differing time zones will affect submission time, so please try to get your entries in by 6:00 AM (EST) the following morning.
2 ) Once all entries have been collected, judging will begin. This judging period will last an entire week from the first of the following month until the seventh and owners, group members, entrants, etc will have to vote for their favorites before then. Just as stated above, weve factored in the time zone issue and decided that, as long as everyone submits their vote by 6:00 AM (EST) on the 8th of the month, their vote can be counted.
Obviously, January of 2008 is exempt from this rule.
Ex: The contest from March will be voted on between April 1st and April 7th.
3 ) Much like on other DeviantArt groups, the winners will be decided through voting via comments. On the first of the month a journal entry will appear on the group listing the months entrants and asking you to pick your favorite. Please respond to that journal entry with a comment that states your favorite entry. Be sure to indicate whether youre voting for fanart, fanfiction or both.
You are not required to vote for each category, but please be considerate to the entrants and submit a vote for both fanart AND fanfiction. This is STRONGLY SUGGESTED and would certainly help even things out.
4 ) Owners and other members of staff ARE allowed to enter the contest(s). Since the winners are decided upon by the group and not the staff, theres no reason why they should be excluded.Calendar Awards:
1 ) A winner will be chosen every month. The first place winners artwork will appear in the calendar as the image for whichever month they were chosen to represent. They will also be able to request a piece of fanart/fiction of their choice by a group volunteer/owner
2 ) The second and third place winners will each receive a request for the fanart/fiction of their choice by a group volunteer/owner, but will NOT be featured in the calendar.
3 ) Additionally, each winner (first, second AND third) will be awarded a button made by the wonderfully generous luckyiota via regular mail . If you decline to submit your mailing address and forfeit this prize, that's certainly your right. However, we can all assure you that your personal information will be known to luckyiota ONLY (meaning that not even the rest of the staff will know it) and will not be distributed to ANYONE without the winning entrant's consent.
Here's an example of what you could potentially win: [link]
The artwork will change per month to reflect the season and pairing. Ie, the winners for January will receive a wintery NejiHina pin while the winning October entrants will get ItaHina with a fall theme.
4 ) The group members will choose the winners each month by commenting on a designated post. Whoever receives the most votes will be declared the winner.Fanfiction Awards:
1 ) The Fanfiction Contest each month will be executed in the same way, but the featured pieces will appear in an anthology of fanfiction rather than a calandar.
2 ) Only the first place winners will appear in the anthology, but each will receive a request for the fanart/fiction of their choice by a group volunteer/owner.
3 ) Additionally, each winner (first, second AND third) will be awarded a button made by the wonderfully generous luckyiota via regular mail. 1 ) In the event that you place in both the fanart and fanfiction sections of our contest, you will only be eligible for ONE prize. We apologize for this, but we don't wish to waste ~luckyiota's materials by sending out extra buttons/stickers. Besides, isn't one set enough? (The same goes for the fanart/fiction request as an alternative prize; only ONE per entrant.)VI. Theme List
Unlike the calendar and fanfiction projects, the list of themes is purely intended to inspire others to draw more fanart and write more fanfiction involving Hinata and her potential suitors. There will be no deadlines, no and no pressure involved with these themes; take them or leave them as you will.
The only stipulation, of course, is that you credit the group with the theme and send us a link to your post. Unlike the contest submissions, we will NOT be posting them in our own gallery, but we WILL add every single one of them to our favorites section. Please be sure to upload all of these theme responses to DA so that this might be possible. Naturally, you may feel free to post anywhere else on the web if you so choose to do so, but you must include at least a line about group affiliation in your work/comments.
You may find the list of themes here on our fanfiction.net profile (also "DateMe").---
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about these rules, please either leave a comment to this journal or contact Megami directly at MsVidelSon225@aol.com.
Devious Comments
Do we have to follow America's seasons, or can we follow our own? Sorry about leaving this as a comment...I hope you don't mind.

Anyway, in relation to your question, we would prefer it if you would stick to seasons in the Northern Hemisphere, but I suppose you make a strong enough case for beaches in January that you could go ahead and follow your own seasons. I'll have to add a note to your entries that specifically state that you're in a different hemisphere, though, hope you don't mind
And, no, I don't mind at all! We ask for comments, complaints and suggetsions for a reason, and this would be it ^^ Feel free to ask away any time you please!
